favorite beverage. Chinese whisky and wine are very strong, and have a smoky
flavor much appreciated by the epicure. Saké, famous as chief drink of the
Japanese, is a sort of rice wine, with a curious salty-sweet taste to it. It is
very good, when once one becomes accustomed to it.
